Architects perform many different roles when helping you design your home. When working with an architect go in with an open mind to come up with the best design for you. A good architect will be able to talk to you, and walk you through the whole process. Before you start any project, it is important to get more than 1 bid.
Little Tips, Big Character
Did you know that if you don’t push your furniture all the way to the wall leaving a few inches of space will automatically create a flow, and be more inviting? A pop of color will make the room more inviting, and cozy. You can create this look with pillows, throws, wall art, or a rug. Wallpaper is making a comeback, we aren’t talking about wallpapering the whole house, but we are saying have fun with it and wallpaper an accent wall, a bathroom, or even the walk-in closet that you spend so much time in.
Smart Design Saves Money, and Time
A well thought about budget is always important. If you go in with the mindset of an unlimited budget the bill will come back and might astonish you. You can have a really great built project for your home that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg. The architect will go over the best products, and design features that will keep the cost of things affordable. A good tip to remember is to overestimate by 15% or more just in case there is a surprise, or some of the features that you want in your home are over budget.
Plan
Having a plan in place before you get started is important. Once that plan is in place, be sure you sign a contract with the architect so there are no real surprises that can really ruin your project. By signing a contract, all parties are protected. Know what you need, and want. You may want 3 bathrooms, with massive closets in each room of the house but that plan may not happen without the proper amount of square footage that is available. Knowing what style, you like is just as important, go through magazines and really pinpoint what your likes really are, and have a clear vision.
Trust your Architect
Once you have hired the right architect for your home project(s) it is important to trust them, and let them do what they know best. They will help you make all of the right decisions for your home by coming up with really great plans. You may not see the vision, but at the end of the day they will most likely be right, and work with you to achieve your vision. Trust them, they know what they are talking about.
